Patient Leader Spotlight
Darryl Armstrong
Darryl Armstrong has inspired many with his healing journey after being initially told he should be put into hospice by his medical team. Then he met Dr. Brown, a cardiologist, who used cutting-edge imaging technology to determine Darryl was eligible for a heart transplant and connected him with the transplant team at the University of Utah. Darryl received this heart transplant from a 16-year-old donor from Idaho who passed away in a car accident.
Today, Darryl still maintains contact with his donor’s family. He sees his cardiologist every three months and has annual biopsies of his transplanted heart. Darryl has benefitted from the use of innovative technologies, as his heart transplant was a completely robotic procedure.
Darryl will be joining the Right Scan Right Time community for a Capitol Hill fly-in this July. During this event, he will have the opportunity to share his experience and advocate for expanded access to innovative imaging technologies such as AI.
